"I grew up in a community deeply affected by the mistrust in our law enforcement.  I have seen how crime thrives in a community that does not feel prioritized by the people sworn to protect it.  I want to work for you and rebuild the trust lost in our public servants.  With over 20 years of combined service in the United States Marine Corps and Law Enforcement, I know what it takes to effectively serve the needs of all people."

 LIST OF ISSUES

PUBLIC SAFETY

Expansion of the Community Contract Program will allow us to provide law enforcement services to more citizens in our Precinct 4 neighborhoods.  Expanding this program will greatly decrease response times to incidents and increase the level of service we can provide to the residents we serve.

We will also work with surrounding law enforcement agencies to provide a more efficient and effective way of responding and reporting incidents.  We will work with surrounding agencies in the implementation of inter-agency task forces such as DWI and animal cruelty enforcement to better utilize our resources.

TRAINING

It is imperative to train deputies that the manner in which they respond to potentially hostile incidents is often the key to diffusing it.  We must teach our deputies how to respond to difficult behavior in the safest, most efficient way possible for the good of both the deputies and the citizens we serve.

The implementation of a Citizen Police Academy will familiarize the participants with the daily tasks of our deputies and how an incident evolves from the call for service to the closing of the case.  The program will be used as a format to inform the public about what we do and how those skills are applied in the community.

BUILDING TRUST
Our agency will be as diverse as the community around us.  This diversity will extend not just to our deputies, but also to our supervisors.

Our disciplinary review board will not only be comprised of law enforcement supervisors, but also trusted and respected members of the community.  These community leaders can provide an outside perspective on common disciplinary issues that may arise.  This is just an example of our commitment to bring the community together with our agency.
